3 Tips to Make the Most of your Trade Show

Visiting trade shows can be a hectic part of your responsibilities as a medical professional. Your top priority is continuing your education, attending talks, and trying to keep up with changing and growing trends in your field. A lot of this is best done in seminars, but much of it also happens on the trade show floor. Here are three quick tips to help you make the most of your time on the floor.

1. Make a plan for the show floor.

This might seem obvious, but it’s important to know what you are looking for before you even leave for a trade show. Take time to meet with your staff specifically about what can be accomplished at a trade show. Find out what problems you want to address for your practice, and find out what companies offer solutions for these problems. When you get to the trade show, stop at these booths first.

2. Branch out and visit the competition.

Find out before you leave who you purchase what products from. Then, find out who their competitors are. Make sure you pay each one a visit at the trade show. This can be a great way to find superior products. Not all devices are created equal. This point brings us our final tip.

3. Take your time.

Make sure you spend enough time with vendors to learn about your options and fully understand their products. As an example of how important this can be, many implant companies offer an “ePTFE” implant, but most of them only have a micro-coating of ePTFE over a traditional silicone implant. Only Surgiform PureForm implants maintain their ePFTE profile throughout the cross-section of the device. Don’t leave a vendor until you have gathered all the information you can about their products.

If you are planning your time on the trade show floor and want to find Surgiform as well as other companies before you arrive, you can find the floor plan here.
