Spotlight: Dr. Michael Godin
Dr. Godin is inarguably one of the nation’s top authorities on facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. He has dedicated his career to improving appearance and function for his patients. After a surgical internship and four-year residency in Head and Neck Surgery at the University of California, San Diego, he spent a year studying cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the nose, eyelids, face, ears, neck, and related structures with Dr. Calvin Johnson, one of the world’s foremost experts in the field. Perhaps most impressive, Dr. Godin is one of only 39 accredited Fellowship Directors in the United States, having been bestowed the honor by the American Academy of Facial Plastic in 2004.
Dr. Godin is the inventor of The MicroMini Lift, a small incision facelift which he has trademarked. This new procedure provides improvement for mild to moderate drooping of the jawline and neck. Dr. Godin often recommends this procedure for patients in their 40’s and 50’s and patients who have had lifts in the past and are starting to see drooping again, usually several years later. He frequently performs a chin implant using a Surgiform ePTFE implant in conjunction with the procedure.

Dr. Godin is not only a technically accomplished facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon, but is also dedicated to providing information and training in advanced facial plastic and reconstructive techniques to his peers in the field. One such avenue for Dr. Godin is his text, Rhinoplasty: Cases and Techniques. The text sets out to be the most useful Rhinoplasty book you will ever own, and through its innovative index and exceptionally collaborative nature (37 prominent surgeons contributed to the text) it certainly makes a strong case for its claim. You can find his text online at Thieme Medical Publishers and Amazon.
In addition to his text, Dr. Godin speaks about his MicroMini Lift both nationally and internationally. This year he will be lecturing to the faculty and residents at Charing Cross Hospital in London on July 17th, and also appearing as an invited lecturer at the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery meeting in Mallorca, Spain, which will be held October 2nd to 5th of this year.
